Information by Type
| FLEXIBLE
MOLDED LINING
Many applications require the
material to be contoured to a specific shape such as a band or a shoe.
The flexible molded linings are semi-cured at the factory so they
can be easily shaped, cut and fitted to an installation. Depending upon the application they are baked to a final cure
or allowed to “service cure” from heat cycling in the working
environment. These come in
a range of friction coefficients and thicknesses up to ½ ".
They are recommended for light and medium duty service.
The material is manufactured in rolls and strips for processing
by Ferotec Friction, or the customer. Typical
application examples include trailer brakes, washing machines and small
crane bands.

RIGID
MOLDED LINING
Rigid molded materials are
generally used for heavy and severe duty applications.
In addition to normally having higher energy and heat handling
capability the rigid molded components are structurally stronger.
In some applications they function with gear teeth cut in them
and no metal core. The
material is available in panels (flat or arced) or in finished parts. Typical application examples include drag lines, drum brakes
on heavy equipment and press brakes in factories.

| WOVEN
LINING
Woven linings
generally maintain a degree of flexibility in service, as well as
maintaining exceptional structural integrity thanks to the substrate
design. There are a variety
of compounds covering light to heavy-duty applications.
The substrate is woven, treated with a friction compound and
baked. The material is
available in rolls or in finished parts. Typical application examples include winches, oil wells and
amusement park rides.
