Ferotec
Friction has been a leading manufacturer in marketing and selling the
D3731 formulation for use in wind turbine yaw brake applications for
over 12 years. We have shipped hundreds of thousands of D3731 yaw
brake pads for applications in Europe, China and India. The D3731
product is well known for it’s quiet operation in all makes and models
of wind turbines offering superior durability while at the same time
being gentle on the rotor, saving substantial change out expenses in
replacing a severely scored unit.
In addition to metal backed brake pads, Ferotec also offers a composite
backed pad which offers lower cost, less potential for noise generation
and much lighter weight for transportation savings. In addition, if an
organic friction pad wore out, the steel backing plate will seriously
score the rotor wherein the composite backing will not harm the rotor.
Lastly, friction pad shear concerns are eliminated since the composite
is integrally molded to the friction pad to become a single piece unit.
If a particular yaw brake pad application requires a somewhat higher
friction coefficient, our newest D3751 product should fill the need. It
offers an approximate 15% increase in friction coefficient. The D3751
friction material can be offered in both a metal backed unit or with a
composite backing.
